Please remember, I’m not crafty, I’m not a tutorial maker, and I have about as much passion for glitter and glue as every other guy out there. What I do enjoy though, is spending time with the tiny human and finding crafty things she enjoys doing to share with her. So that’s what this month is all about! Let Charlie have a little creative fun, get her excited for Christmas, and enjoy some quality time! Today we are making Silly Reindeer Hats!
- Brown Construction Paper
- Googly Eyes
- Red PomPoms or Felt
- Spray Adhesive
Start with the antlers. Make sure when you’re tracing your tiny humans hands, catch a little bit of their arm. This will leave you enough room to glue the antlers to the band we will make to go around the head. You can decorate these hands down to the wrist any way you like, experiment and have fun!
You will want the headband to be 4″-5″ wide. This will allow you room to add a reindeer face later. The Easiest way to get 2 equal sizes is to fold your construction paper long ways like I did in the video, then cut or tear along the fold for equal sizes. Size it up on your tiny human’s head. Once it’s glued together, I recommend adding the face prior to the antlers just so the antlers don’t become damaged.
Add your face! We chose googly eyes and red pompoms, but again, get creative. See what you can come up with!
To finish everything up just glue your “hands” to the inside of your head band. This will give you your finished reindeer hat. Space them evenly on each side of the eyes if you can, but if your reindeer comes out a little lopsided, that’s ok! That’s the fun in crafting with kids. It doesn’t have to be perfect!
